LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
The space and materials in the classroom are carefully selected and arranged to promote active learning.
The classroom is divided into interest areas organized around specific kinds of play, for example, block area, house area, science area, small toy area, book area, and art area.
The names of the interest areas should have names that children can understand.
Materials are labeled with tracings, pictures, photographs, actual objects or words.
Most of the materials in the classroom are to be open ended.
Children’s artwork, photos of children at work, and writing samples are displayed on the walls.
